Everything & Nothing

This could be because I’m left-handed and everything (or weird and tired), but to me Lincoln is the only one looking forward. I understand why people think he’s looking backwards, but not to me. Where is the destination? You can only look forward or backward if there is a spot of reference. Who is to say the destination isn’t to the right of Lincoln, thus he’s the only one looking forward. Also, you read from left to right, thus the right is the final destination when reading a sentence. He only looks like he is looking backwards because he has been put behind the coins looking left. This is simply a question of perspective. 

I guess it’s like when you’re on a train and one way you’d be facing forward, but if the train could travel in the opposite direction without turning around you’d suddenly be facing backwards. I like the thought that Lincoln is facing foreward, being very progressive and ‘foreward thinking’ when it came to equal rights (not that Jefferson, Roosevelt and Washington weren’t ahead of their time, either). I’m an idealist and full of romantic political ideas, what can I say.

It is 2:30am here, I’ll probably read this tomorrow and think ‘what an imbecile!’. Also, I realise the above picture is meant simply as a joke…I just thought I’d have a philosophical mumble. It’s that time of the year when I tend to have a lot of them :D
